What Is ECU Tuning?

Every modern fuel-injected outboard is controlled by an Engine Control Unit, the ECU, which manages fuel delivery, ignition timing, RPM limits, and throttle mapping. From the factory, these settings are often conservative, designed to satisfy emissions standards and regulatory requirements across dozens of different countries simultaneously.

ECU tuning, also called reflashing, replaces those factory settings with a custom calibration optimized for your specific engine, your boat's weight and setup, and the conditions you run in. The changes happen at the software level, no mechanical modifications required.

 Bring your boat to our Houston facility and have the work done onsite. Our shop environment allows for thorough pre- and post-tune testing to make sure everything is dialed in before you leave.

Is ECU Tuning Safe?

Yes, when performed by experienced professionals using properly developed tune files. We do not push engines beyond their mechanical limits. Every calibration we apply is designed to work within the safe operating parameters of your specific engine. We'll also be upfront with you if your engine isn't a good candidate for tuning due to age, condition, or existing issues.
