Boat Detailing Services

Your boat spends its life exposed to the sun, water, fuel, and the elements, and it shows. Oxidation dulls the gel coat, scratches accumulate, waterline stains set in, and the interior starts to look worn. A professional detail doesn't just make your boat look better, it protects the surface, preserves the value, and reminds you why you bought it in the first place. At Mealey Marine Services, our detailing team restores boats to showroom condition using professional-grade products and proven techniques.

Our Boat Detailing Services

Every boat is different, and every detail is tailored to what your vessel actually needs. Whether you're prepping for a show, getting ready to sell, or just want your boat looking its best for the season, we have a service level to match.

Gel Coat Correction

Gel coat is the outermost layer of your fiberglass hull, and it takes the brunt of UV exposure, saltwater, and general wear. Over time it oxidizes, fades, and develops surface scratches that make a boat look far older than it is. Our gel coat correction process removes that damaged layer through careful compounding and polishing, revealing the clean, glossy surface underneath. The result is a dramatically improved appearance and a surface that's better protected going forward.

Multi-Step Compounding & Polishing

For heavily oxidized or scratched surfaces, a single-step polish isn't enough. Our multi-step compounding process uses progressively finer abrasives to cut through oxidation and surface damage, then polish the surface to a high gloss before finishing with a protective wax or sealant. This is the same process used by professional marine detailers and delivers results that basic detailing simply can't match.

Buffing & Scratch Removal

Light scratches, swirl marks, and surface scuffs don't have to be permanent. We buff out surface-level imperfections by hand and machine, restoring clarity and gloss to fiberglass, painted surfaces, and gel coat without damaging the underlying material.

Waxing & Paint Sealant

A quality marine wax or sealant applied after compounding and polishing protects your boat's surface from UV rays, oxidation, saltwater, and environmental contaminants. We use professional marine-grade products that bond to the surface and provide lasting protection between details.

Exterior Hull Cleaning

Waterline stains, algae, scum lines, and mineral deposits are stubborn, but we remove them safely without damaging your gel coat or paint. We clean and treat the entire hull exterior including the waterline, transom, and running surfaces.

Interior Detailing

The inside of your boat deserves as much attention as the outside. We clean and condition seats and upholstery, scrub and treat non-skid deck surfaces, clean carpet and flooring, wipe down dashboards and consoles, and remove fish odors, mildew smells, and general grime that builds up over a season of use.

Canvas & Vinyl Cleaning

Boat covers, bimini tops, and seat cushions take constant abuse from the sun and weather. We clean and treat canvas and vinyl surfaces to remove mildew, restore flexibility, and extend their life.

Complete Detail Package

Our full detail combines everything, exterior compounding, polishing, and waxing, gel coat correction where needed, interior cleaning and conditioning, canvas treatment, and a complete hull wash. It's the most thorough service we offer and delivers the most dramatic results.

Why Professional Detailing Matters

A clean, well-maintained boat isn't just about appearances, though the difference is striking. Regular detailing:

  • Preserves resale value — a properly maintained gel coat holds its value significantly better than one that's been left to oxidize
  • Protects your investment — wax and sealant create a barrier against UV damage, saltwater corrosion, and environmental contamination
  • Catches problems early — our detailers often spot blistering, stress cracks, or other issues that are easy to miss when a boat is dirty
  • Makes maintenance easier — a sealed, protected surface is far easier to clean after every outing

How Often Should You Detail Your Boat?

For boats used regularly on Texas lakes and coastal waters, we generally recommend:

  • Full detail — once or twice per year, ideally at the start and end of the season
  • Wash and wax — every few months depending on exposure and use
  • Interior cleaning — at least once per season, or after heavy use

Boats kept in the water or exposed to direct sun and saltwater will benefit from more frequent attention. We're happy to recommend a schedule based on how and where you use your boat.
